I always thought it would be nice if the 75-300 had IS but 100-400 would be a better range. The 100-400 might be interesting since it has image stabilization. If Olympus is now going to provide direct equivalents of the 100-400 and 50-200 that makes me think they expect no overlap with Panasonic. Until now there seemed to have been an effort of Olympus and Panasonic to not step on each others' toes with each producing slightly different zoom ranges. Since there is a specific 100-400mm shown now for Olympus I do wonder if they are expecting to have no competition with overlapping versions from Panasonic. A faster aperture like f/2-f/2.8 would be great.
Having an Oly PRO option covering that focal length is very appealing to me.
I enjoy the 100-400mm full frame focal length and the Lumix DG 50-200mm is one of my favorite m4/3 lenses. I'm intrigued by the two "future lens" options that hover around the 50-200mm area. I am quite disappointed that the rumored 100/2.8 PRO lens is not listed here, as I can't wait to replace my 60 Macro with the 100 Macro PRO. Since Olympus launched the PRO series I have lost interest in the non-PRO lenses with the exception of the 75/1.8 and 60 Macro.
This lens has an expected availability of 2020. The compact system delivers remarkable portability, and the built-in teleconverter provides convenience, making it the optimal super telephoto zoom lens for sports and bird photography. It also offers in-lens image stabilization (IS), supporting 5-axis Sync IS when operating in concert with the image stabilization of Olympus OM-D cameras. This is the first Olympus interchangeable lens with a built-in 1.25x teleconverter, which easily extends the lens to the maximum focal length of 1000mm1 (35mm equivalent). M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 150-400MM F4.5 TC1.25X IS PROĭevelopment is under way for the M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO, a super telephoto zoom lens in the M.Zuiko PRO series, designed for exceptional optical performance in a compact, lightweight form, along with dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof (-10☌) performance and superb mobility. In the picture they have it next to the 300mm. Still no date for the 150-400mm just sometime in 2020. It is to note that a non Pro version of 100-400 is in the road map.
